LAVA Announces 5 New Entry-Level Smartphones In The Iris Range
While there seems to be plenty of options in the affordable range these days, LAVA thinks not.

LAVA Mobile has announced 5 new Android-powered smartphones that will probably give them some leeway into the competitive entry-level smartphone market.
It has launched the Iris 400s, Iris 400 colors, Iris 250, Iris 404 Flair and the Iris 410, all of which will cost in the range of Rs 4000 to 6000.
As for the specs of the 5 smartphones, they seem to have similar innards with adjustments made to fit into the various price tags.
First up we have the Iris 400s that sports a 4 inch WVGA IPS touchscreen display. It is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor of unknown make and comes with 512 MB of RAM. Inside we also get 4 GB of internal memory that is expandable, while on the outside we get an 5 MP camera sensor with an LED flash and a VGA camera up front. The handset is powered by a 1400 mAh battery that is small but seems sufficient enough to power it considering the screen size.
Next up the Iris 400 colors that sports a 4 inch touch screen WVGA display and comes with a 1 GHz dual-core processor. Memory options are limited to 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of ROM that is expandable via a micro SD card slot. In the camera department we get a smaller 3.2 MP primary camera with an LED flash, along with a VGA front-facing one for selfies. The handset sports a 1400 mAh battery to power it all.
As for the Iris 410, it simply sports a slightly powerful processor at 1.3 GHz and a higher capacity battery at 1700 mAh while the rest of the specs mimic the 400 colors.
While the above handsets surprisingly run of Android KitKat 4.4, the Iris 250 that seems like the cheaper one of the lot and will sport Android Jelly Bean 4.2 inside. The rest of the specifications again are similar to the Iris 400 colors handset.
Lastly we have the Iris 404 Flair that sports a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and a 1400 mAh battery; with the rest of the specifications similar to the 400 colors.
The pricing of each of the handsets has not been revealed just yet and neither is the availability for the same. With the Chinese invasion (Xiaomi Redmi 1s) into the Indian markets, local handset makers will indeed need to step up their game even if it means killing some of their profits, if they wish to survive.
