Meet The Poor Man's GALAXY Grand: Gionee GPad G3

This 5.5-inch Android device sports a low-resolution screen and a quad-core processor.

After launching the fancy Elife E6, Gionee has revealed its budget handset GPad G3 in India. What's so special about this device? Well, it's probably the only sub-10k 5.5" phone available in the Indian market. Fans of large screen handsets might want to hold their horses though, as the device has pixel dimensions of 854×480, which is very low for a 5.5-incher. However, if you have drooled over the Samsung GALAXY Grand, and secretly aspired to own one, you won't be complaining.

The G3 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 chip clocked at 1.2 GHz. The camera is backed by a 5 megapixel sensor. Moreover, you get a VGA front-facing camera, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and 2250 mAh battery. And of course, the G3 packs in two SIM slots to please Indians. In terms of software, it comes loaded with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

The Gionee GPad G3 is available in white and black, and comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. It's the best bet for those who aspire to buy a Note II like device for 1/3rd its price. However, do keep in mind that you'll have to put up with a pixelated screen. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead get yourself one for Rs 9700.
