Apple's iOS 15.4 brings 'Melting face' and 36 other emojis

Smiling as your face is melting is a suitable metaphor given the era we are in.

Following the release of Unicode 14 by Unicode Consortium (the organization that makes symbols and emojis), Apple is finally starting to include the new emojis on iOS with the release of the 15.4 developer beta.

As detailed last summer, some of the new emojis available are "troll", "heart hands”, "biting lip" and of course, "melting face."

The final version of Unicode 14 will also include multiple skin tone variations of the handshake emoji, the only character you could not modify for different skin shades. Ironic, isn’t it?

It took the Unicode Consortium a good two years to get it done, but we finally have a new handshake emoji that's available in 25 different skin tone variations.

Unicode 14.0 is already present on Android 12, which has now gone out to most major smartphone brands. They're only available on Apple's iOS devices with the latest 15.4 developer beta, but will appear widely once the release comes out of beta later this year.
