Facebook Launches Instant Articles For Android Platform In India

The social media giant has teamed up with five Indian publishers as of now to come up with interactive digital content for the users.

Social Networking giant Facebook has recently launched its new 'Instant Articles' feature to Android smartphones in India.

While the feature is available to iPhone users from October this year, the roll out on Android is happening gradually now, especially in partnership with five publishers from India too.

As we already know, with this feature, publishers can host their content directly on the social network which means that, stories will be loaded pretty fast and also there would be no need for the users to be redirected to a browser app to actually read the story.

In-fact, this definitely is a good idea for a country like India where Internet connectivity is still a problem to many. This allows users to access media-rich content easily even on 2G networks through out the country.

According to Facebook, the publishers will be able to display interactive news stories with images, interactive maps, audio captions and also auto-play videos.

Speaking about the publishers, in India, Facebook has partnered with The Indian Express, India Today, The Quint, Aaj Tak and the Hindustan Times to display such media-rich content.

Meanwhile, in the US and Europe, Facebook has already roped in publications like The New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed, NBC, The Atlantic, The Guardian, BBC News, Spiegel and Bild.

Having this said, to make 'Instant Articles' more distinctive, the social network giant features a lightning bolt on the top right corner.
