Caring for your hearing device is a task that should take no more than 5 minutes a day for best results. Also, there are a few things that you must keep in mind while handling them. Let's take you through the 5 Do's to make sure that they run longer than promised.

Store Your Hearing Aids in a Dry Place To Avoid Moisture

Prevent moisture from entering your hearing aids, as it can cause serious damage to them. Wipe off any visible moisture from the machine and dry them in a warm place. Avoid using hair dryers or heating devices to dry your hearing aids.

Use a designated moisture-removing accessory for your devices, such as a dehumidifier for storage, when they get wet. This remedy should help keep moisture at bay.

Keep Your Device Clean

Clogged ear wax can decrease the performance of your hearing aids. Ear wax can also enter the domes (or tips) of your device, which can cause reduced audibility.

It is nearly impossible to avoid the contact of earwax with hearing aids, but cleaning the hearing aids regularly with the help of dry cotton swabs or dedicated cleaning tools will clear the ear wax or debris. Also, remember to change your wax filters regularly.

Change the Batteries Often

Change the batteries of your hearing aids regularly. When not in use, it is always advisable to keep the battery slot open, as keeping the battery slot closed for long periods of time can damage your devices. Always use soft objects, like cotton swabs or a soft cloth to clean the batteries.

Always Handle With Care

Hearing aids are fragile in nature. Hence, it is of utmost importance to handle them with care to ensure longer durability. Keep them away from children and pets. Handle them gently and avoid contact with hard surfaces.

Schedule Routine Service & Maintenance

Hearing aids require professional care, just like any medical device would. Schedule an appointment with an Audiologist once every 6 months to ensure 360-degree care for your devices. Note that all hardware changes in the devices will require intervention from an audiologist.

Practicing the above-stated care guidelines will ensure your devices last longer. Always remember to follow the instructions and guidelines provided in the manual. Wishing you sound hearing and love for all things audible, from Hearzap India—the best solution for all your hearing needs.
